Brett Lobwein is a passionate underwater photographer growing up on the waterways of the Port Hacking River in the southern suburbs of Sydney, Australia. His love of SCUBA diving grew in the early 2000s working in a local dive shop. In 2010 he started to take a keen interest in underwater photography purchasing his first housing. From his first trip to swim with the Humpback Whales in Tonga he was completely hooked on underwater photography. His other passion is to explore the paths less travelled. Combining these two passions he has managed to capture images throughout Australia and internationally.
When he is not immersed in his high paced sales career Brett takes every chance he can to capture images of the ocean. Brett's goal is to show the beauty of the ocean and why we all need to protect it and all that call it home. His wife Sarah-Jo shares the same passion and love for the ocean. Together they have a number of projects focused on the impact of single use plastics.
The Arctic is far from Brett's usual focus on the relatively warm Sydney waters, tropics or coral reefs. The Elysium Artists for the Arctic expedition presents a once in a lifetime opportunity to push his photographic skills to a new level.
