Caitlin Bailey

Ambassador

Caitlin Bailey is a wildlife cinematographer and ocean explorer based in San Antonio, Texas. She has spent nearly two accumulative years at sea since 2016, working as a filmmaker on various ocean exploration vessels with the Global Foundation for Ocean Exploration, including 20 expeditions aboard NOAA Ship Okeanos Explorer. Caitlin has also been on ship-based expeditions to the Arctic and Antarctica.

Caitlin is a National Geographic Explorer and was the inaugural participant in National Geographic Society’s Second Assistant Program in 2018. In 2019, she received and completed a National Geographic Society grant to document the Texas Horned Lizard Reintroduction Project at San Antonio Zoo. Currently, she is participating in National Geographic’s Field Ready Program.

Caitlin loves sharing her passion for the deep sea and polar regions by speaking at various venues, particularly to students. Her love of wildlife led her to a Bachelor of Science in Animal Biology from Texas A&M University – Corpus Christi in 2012 and a Master of Fine Arts in Science and Natural History Filmmaking from Montana State University in 2015. When not at sea, Caitlin enjoys spending time at home with her dog, Camie.
