The ICY Migration Project Route

Due to the extreme environment and general ice cover, the 3 whale species are very challenging to research and study. Our knowledge base is therefore limited. We have reviewed various research and plotted locations and timings of observations.

The drastic climate changes are however likely altering the timing and migration making the expedition even more challenging. Combined with local knowledge, we have established the general migration routes and likely timing. The expedition timing and route has been completely guided by this information. The extended time and smaller vessel gives us flexibility to adapt route and timing based on observations.
