Charlotte Kiang

Steering Committee Ambassador

Charlotte is a management consultant, writer, and former rocket scientist based in Seattle, USA. She is currently working as a Consultant at The Boston Consulting Group (BCG), where she advises senior executives across a variety of industries on management and business strategy. As the only official consultancy partner to COP26, BCG is committed to halving global emissions by 2030 and reaching net-zero by 2050, and to helping its clients achieve this ambitious goal as well.

Prior to becoming a management consultant, Charlotte was an engineer at SpaceX, where she led mission integration for the first flight of the human-rated Dragon 2 spacecraft and was named one of Forbes’ 30 Under 30 in 2017 for her work in the space industry. Since transitioning out of engineering in 2019, Charlotte has continued her commitment to STEM communication as a science columnist for Forbes. She has also held a Wogrammer Journalism Fellowship with AnitaB.org, which has supported her efforts to increase the visibility of female scientists and engineers in the media, and conducts scientific outreach presentations on behalf of NASA as a volunteer Solar System Ambassador with the Jet Propulsion Laboratory.

Charlotte is passionate about all things related to space and ocean exploration and is eager to combine her interests in STEM, journalism, and business to help mobilize the world towards climate action. A PADI Advanced Open Water Diver, she became a licensed Aquanaut in 2022 after completing a 24+ hour underwater mission at Key Largo Undersea Park.
