Emily Chan

Contributing Photographer.

Emily has been a medical secretary to one of Asia’s top heart surgeons for more than 20 years. Her realm of responsibilities includes organisation, management and execution of several high profiled medical conferences. Emily’s name is synonymous to the Mulu Rafflesia Heart Valve biennial Symposium in South East Asia. Emily has managed the inaugural event in Mulu, Sarawak in 2000 to Danang, Vietnam in 2008. This acclaimed symposium attracts over 300 world-renowned heart surgeons, cardiologists and anesthetists.

Pursuing her interest in the sea, Emily is an avid diver and a SCUBA instructor. Taking the next level in her pursuit, she took up underwater photography. She is a graduate from Ocean Geographic’s Essential Digital Underwater Photography Workshop conducted by Michael AW and Mathieu Meur. At the 2008 Celebrate the Sea Festival in the Philippines, Emily won the WOW Best Picture Award. Being an intrepid diver, Emily has explored and photographed the underwater realm of Australia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Maldives, Hawaii and the Red Sea, to name but a few. Besides putting her head beneath the waves, Emily is a veteran of the peak of Mt Kinabalu and has also made treks in Nepal and USA.
